I am quite delighted to bring you the LPQ/P3 of Daniel Martin Moore. I believe he's most known for his delicate, beautiful melodies and for his work in raising awareness about mountaintop removal. MTR, a form of coal mining, has had profound effects on the land and people of Central Appalachia.
I did wonder about posing my dorky questions to DMM so I asked my friend Jim, who produced Moore's latest record (a collaboration with Ben Sollee titled Dear Companion), about Daniel... and Jim, in addition to being positively glowy about him, told me that he is super smart and possesses a very fine wit. ("Hilarious," he said.) So, here we are...
Mr. Moore is generally regarded as consuming unreasonable amounts of ginger and nearly always has snacks on him. He will spontaneously compose a haiku, if asked (and this is true, I tested this random fact and got the loveliest 5-7-5 ever).
And last but not least, he can probably tell you want kind of tree that is.
Without further ado (and ccd, this is that surprise I was talking about), please enjoy...
The LP Questionnaire
Name: Daniel Martin Moore
Pro Wrestling Name: Agent Sweet Cakes (...amazing...)
1. Pretend you’re 15. Name three songs you'd put on a mix tape for your girlfriend/boyfriend.
The year is 1997. This little 3 song gem would include:
1. My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion
2. Can You Feel The Love Tonight - Elton John
3. To Make You Feel My Love - Garth Brooks
2. Which evil villain would make the best President? Dick Lecter
3. What was your favorite cartoon as a child? Definitely the Smurfs, or My Little Pony.
4. What superpower do you wish you had? Would time travel count? Or maybe just being able to take long looks into the future and past, just to see what was/will be going on. That would be fascinating.
5. What would the title of your autobiography be? I Don't Like Him, But I Respect Him: DMM's Tale: As Told By The Author Himself- with Foreward by Charles Kuralt or Straight Gangsta Shit, The Life of D-Double-M
Pick Three
The Unthanks: Once, way back a few year ago, I got the rare fortune to open a show for this remarkable collection of musicians. "The kyes come yem but I see not me henny." I hope they do that tune. Just amazing.
Wanda Jackson: Always been a big fan of Ms. Jackson. You need only to YouTube her name to learn why.
Wax Fang: One of a kind. One in a million. One or the other cause either will do. Really lookin forward to Mr. Ratterman on the batteria. You will be rocked.
I think that's the first time Pootie Tang has made it into the LPQ so I am pretty stoked about that. I can attest to the awesomeness of Wax Fang and they've made it onto a few P3's this year. Kentucky represent and all. I'll be back laters with Kevin Avery. Until then, you can catch up with the superfun fun here.
