We hope that you are as excited as we are about the launch of the 2011 SXSW PanelPicker voting application. This year, we received a record number of speaking proposals from people living across the United States and around the world -- more than 2800 Music, Film and Interactive proposals total. As of Monday morning, SXSW staff is still processing the last round of revisions on these proposals. In order to be fair to the individuals whose proposals are still being edited, we have decided to delay the launch of the PanelPicker voting application to Wednesday, August 11. Look for the interface to go live at noon CDT on that day. This voting interface will stay open through Friday, August 27, so join us Wednesday to lend your voice to SXSW's 2011 programming.

As wireless communication has connected people with the entire planet from their desktops, the need for face-to-face encounters has only grown.
